August Communion Offering
The August Communion Offering will go towards West Kentucky Family Services. This is a local foster care and adoption agency. You gift help to provide ministries in health and mental health cost in children ranging in ages from birth to 21. Please be generous in you giving.
Chancel Choir
We are please to welcome back the Chancel Choir. Practice will resume August 6:00 with a Fall Kick Off Pot Luck. All choir members and their families are invited to attend. Choir rehearsal will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the meal to follow. Meat and Drinks provided. If you have any questions you may call Beth at 444-9486.
We also want to thank all those that provided the congregation with Special Music while the Chancel Choir was on break. We are truly blessed to have such a talented congregation.
UMCOR
During the month of August our mission emphasis will be the United Methodist Committee On Relief. Instead of putting together flood buckets here and shipping them we are asking for donations to send directly to Sager Brown bypassing the cost of shipping. It is estimated to cost approximately $45. to purchase items for one flood bucket. On the back of the Newsletter you will fine kit information. Items may be dropped off at the church during August.
Sunday School Roundup
We will conclude our annual Sunday School Round-Up Food Drive for PCM on August 3. We want to thank everyone for their continued support. Following is a note from PCM:
“Trying to do more with less”
“Who isn’t these days? More and more folks are struggling. PCM continues to see from 35-50 brand new clients requesting assistance each month. Then there are the folks who we haven’t seen in ages...they come in angry and disappointed to be back in the position of asking for assistance. Our hearts are torn by the stories we are hearing everyday.
Our Emergency Shelter grant request returned to us with the lowest funding we’ve received in a few years. Our friends in Frankfort are also trying to do more with less, it seems.
While we have no plans to reduce services, we may be assigning our member congregations something other than a food item from time to time, to be able to provide for basic shelter needs. All cleaning supplies, paper products and personal hygiene items donated to PCM save us from purchasing them and allow us to direct funds to big ticket things like rent and utilities.
Financial donations are down, and we are trying not to worry! We are so grateful to our faithful supporters who never forget us. Remember, every gift is meaningful and important to us and to the people we are helping!”
