The mission of Lone Oak United Methodist Church is to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through Prayer, Worship, Study, Witness, and Service. We invite all persons to join us on this journey.

Our front entrance is off the Lone Oak Road/Highway 45 four lane just past Milner and Orr Funeral home on the lelft toward Mayfield.
Lone Oak is a traditional United Methodist congregation with a healthy respect for questions and thought provoking conversation. For in-depth perspectives of specific Wesleyan theological understandings and our Christian roots please visit www.umc.org; and www.importal.org.
A brief summary of our fundamental theological/doctrinal orientation goes something like this:
We operate out of a "grace theology". Our journeys begin in grace and end in grace. We understand grace to be the unearned, undeserved love of God. Grace surrounds us before we are aware of it (prevenient grace). Grace moves us to say "yes" to God through forgiveness of our sins (justifying grace). And Grace continues to work in our lives so that we develop what John Wesley called "holiness of heart and life" (sanctifying/perfecting grace).
Following John Wesley, our founder's example, we stress putting faith into action to live out Jesus' commands to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and our neighbor as we are loved by God.
We practice two sacraments (outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual graces):
Baptism, which is offered to persons of all ages as an affirmation of God's self-giving love, and Holy Communion, which is open to all who would receive it as a sign of God's life giving, life-changing grace.
We encourage persons to grow in faith and service to God through the practices of prayer, worship, study, witness and service.
We understand the life of faith to be a life-long journey filled with ups and downs, twists and turns, successes and failures, starts and detours.
